Preparing for surgery can be a little overwhelming and it’s easy to go HAM on the supply shopping! And let’s face it, surgery is expensive and the little things add up to a lot of coins if you aren’t careful. This is why I have put together my bbl supply list of top things you will ACTUALLY need for your surgery. If you want to be even more budget-conscious you can find several of these items at your local dollar store!

Many dolls are often shook when they discover how much BBL Post Op Costs add up to. A realistic figure is $800 in supplies and $1000 in massages.

That’s $1,800 whole extra dollars in addition to your surgery fees that you need to take into consideration when budgeting for a BBL surgery. (not including travel and accommodations)

Why You Need It: This supplement helps promote healthy hemoglobin levels. It varies from surgeon to surgeon but, typically you need a minimum Hemoglobin level of 12 to be cleared for surgery without a cell saver/blood transfusion.

Pro Tip: Start taking 30 days before you get your lab orders for a blood panel (you are typically required to get your bloodwork done 15-30 days before surgery.)

The following bbl supply list products will be needed during the first week of recovery starting the day of surgery. If you are traveling, these are the supplies you will need to bring with you.

Why You Need It: You will be wearing your stage 1 faja immediately when you wake up from your procedure. It is low compression, meaning it will fit loosely on your body, not tight. It is NOT meant to fit like shape wear or a waist trainer. See my Fajas 101 Guide here.

Pro Tip: First Check if your surgeon offers a faja at a better deal. It’s always better to go with the garment your surgeon provides because you can try it on during your pre-op appointment to guarantee it’s the right fit.

Recommended Product: Lover-Beauty Shapewear $60-$70 (at 5’2 178lbs mine was a size Large)

Why You Need It: During the first 3 months of recovery you will be in a faja every single day & you wont want to wear a bra for the first couple of weeks. Seamless tank tops help prevent irritation from the garments, foams, and boards.

Pro Tip: Fajas can cause back acne from sweating. Wearing a tank top will help prevent this. When you move into your stage 2 faja, a tank top helps keep the garments cleaner for a longer period of time between washes.

Why You Need It: During recovery, you are getting rid of a lot of fluid and will need to pee every 2-3 hours. Because you are wearing a faja, you will need to pee standing up. You will use this for approximately 3-6 months.

Pro Tip: Practice in the shower a few times before your sx to get the hang of it. Girl, trust, you don’t want pee on your faja

Why You Need It: 3 sheets are used to give uniform smooth compression and flattening of abdominal skin after cosmetic surgery. See my Fajas 101 Guide for instructions on how to wear foams correctly in your faja.

Pro Tip: You’ll want to wear a seamless tank top to prevent foams from irritating your skin. I also recommend wrapping your foams in Plastic Saran Wrap to protect them from fluid stains (trust me they get nasty & can’t be washed).

Why You Need It: The Abdominal Board provides the extra support your midsection needs after an aesthetic procedure to preventing fluid retention, skin folds, and irritation. This is often required by your surgeon to be worn inside your Stage 1 Faja for 3 weeks after surgery.

The Lumbar Molder gives extra support on your back. and helps shape your lower back. I personally did not use a Lumbar molder but, I know many dolls out there who swear by them.

Why You Need It: You must wash your body with this special soap right before surgery & continue to use it the first week of recovery.

Pro Tip: Don’t order anything bigger than 8oz, you won’t need it. You don’t need to regular body wash during week 1

Why You Need It: Compression socks prevent swelling in your feet and legs after surgery and must be work for 7 days post-op. If you traveled for surgery, be sure to wear socks on your flight home or your legs will swell up like a pregnant lady!

Pro Tip: Your surgeon gives you 1 pair of socks that you wake up in after surgery. I recommend getting a second pair as fluid leaks all over them & you need to wear fresh socks while your others are washing. I also recommend open toe so you don’t slip and fall on tiled flooring.

Why You Need It: You won’t be able to bend over & need shoes you can easily slide on while standing.

Pro Tip: Get cheap slides that you are okay with fluids leaking on. (ie. no fur, leather, suede)

Why You Need It: When you get a BBL your butt cheeks are hard as rocks for about 12 days. Going #2 can get messy and you won’t be able to reach around that new booty easily. You will need extra large wet wipes to clean yourself properly.

Pro Tip: Be sure you get extra large wipes for that extra large booty girl! (Wet Wipes are way too small)

Why You Need It: After surgery, you have to stay hydrated and drink around a gallon of water a day.

Pro Tip: Get a water bottle with a built-in straw that is leak proof. Sitting up hurts really bad in the first week and you’ll want to be able to drink water while laying in bed on your tummy.

Why You Need It: If you are staying at an AirBNB or a Recovery House there may not be an outlet next to the bed & you’ll want to be able to charge your phone at all times.

Why You Need It: If you are traveling for surgery it’s airport efficient to take travel-size toiletries.

Pro Tip: You won’t need body wash since your using Hibiclens. Pack your toiletries in a ziplock bag so nothing leaks onto your clothes with airplane pressure and put in your checked bag so you don’t run into any issues with TSA

Why You Need It: Recovery Homes and Surgery Facilities keep it really cold at 68-70 degrees. You’ll want a plush robe to keep you warm. You also don’t really wear clothes for the first week of recovery. Typically a Robe, Tank Top, and Faja are all that is worn.

Why You Need It: I recommend a Red or Dark Colored robe since you will be leaking fluids.

Why You Need It: A BBL Pillow must be used for sitting during the first 3 months of recovery in order to avoid applying any pressure to areas where you had fat transferred. I’m not going to lie sitting is uncomfortable and no pillow will be amazing however you want something between hard as a rock and too soft that it cant hold your weight.

Pro Tip: Find out if your surgeon offers a BBL Package that includes a pillow. If you are traveling for surgery, you will need your BBL pillow for your flight home. Please read your doctors post op instructions on when it’s safe to use the BBL pillow. If you are a short girl like me, you might also consider getting a yoga block to put your feet on bc this pillow elevates your a good 3-4″ from the ground.

Why You Need It: After BBL surgery, you will be leaking fluids like crazy. Chux will need to be put down on the bed to protect the sheets and mattress from exposure to fluids.

Pro Tip: You will need 40-50 of these pads during week 1 of recovery while they are re-opening your incisions for drainage massages. After that, you shouldn’t need them anymore.

Why You Need It: After BBL surgery, you will be leaking fluids. Maxi pads are used to cover incisions and absorb as much fluid as possible. Some people also use Depends over the outside of their faja to collect any fluid.

Pro Tip: Don’t waste any coins on gauze, it’s too thin. These pads are all you need.

Why You Need It: When taking pain killers, it can cause constipation.

Pro Tip: If you haven’t gone #2 by afternoon on day 3, go ahead and take one of these pills to ensure you don’t get any constipation pains.

Why You Need It: Tylenol is the only approved pain relief medication approved to take alongside your prescribed pain killers.

Pro Tip: Take a full-size bottle, not the travel size because you will need more than that! Outside of Tylenol, You cannot take Midol, Ibuprofen, Advil, ASpirin, or any other pain relief pills during week 1 of recovery.

Why You Need It: Reduces bruising, swelling, and pain from liposuction surgery.

Pro Tip: If traveling for surgery, just bring 1 tube. The rest you will use when you get back.

Pro Tip: Put shower curtain over the mattress, tuck it around the sides & cover with a fitted sheet to keep in place.

Pro Tip: Everyone gets the surgery blues during recovery as the swelling goes down in some places faster than others. It can make you think your new dramatic shape is no longer there. Use a measuring tape to keep your mind at ease and know your midsection swelling takes significantly longer to go down than your fat transfer areas.

After Body Contouring procedures that include Liposuction, many surgeons strongly recommend that a compression garment, also known as “fajas colombianas”, be worn to help reduce the amount of fluid build-up and fibrosis formation in your body. It’s  also believed they play a big role in “snatching” your waist. The length of time varies from surgeon to surgeon but you’re typically asked to wear the faja for 1-3 months immediately following your procedure. There are so many types of garments out there, it can be really confusing on what to buy and how to wear your fajas throughout recovery. This guide and demonstration video should help clarify!

Female Urinal

During your recovery, especially during the first month, you are getting rid of a lot of fluid and will need to pee every 2-3 hours. Because you are wearing a faja 24/7, and taking off your garment is painful, you will need to pee standing up. I highly recommend the Tinkle Belle. It’s slender shape fits into your faja’s opening seamlessly. Just be sure to practice in the shower a few times before your surgery to get the hang of it… you don’t want to pee on yourself

Compression Socks

Seamless Tank Top

You’ll want to wear a seamless tank top to prevent foams from irritating your skin.

Arm Compression

If you decide to get Arm Lipo, you will need to purchase an Arm Compression Jacket or Arm Compression Sleeves as Stage 1 Fajas do not come with built-in sleeves. This was something I didn’t know until after my procedure! For my Stage 2 Faja I chose to purchase built in sleeves and bra and this was significantly more comfortable!

Extenders

When you first get into your Stage 2 Faja, the higher compression can be difficult to tolerate. Extenders can be used to give some relief until your waist snatches more and you adjust to the high compression. It’s NOT comfortable.
